However, it is not suitable for use as a shampoo as it does not remove oil from the hair. The bars weigh 3 5/8 oz each and have a weak scent with a small bit of coal tar perfume. The soap lathers well, soothes the skin, and does not dry it out. The product is packaged simply with a paper sticker on the soap that some find difficult to remove. It is fake coal tar soap with a lot of black dye, and while it is not clear how they are able to call it "Coal Tar" soap, it is effective.
