The Lifegard Aquatics 1/2-Inch Slip Bulkhead Fitting is a slip-on bulkhead fitting that is designed for use with a 1/2-inch pipe. The fitting has special straight threads that require an adapter for garden hose fittings. The washer should be placed on the outside where there is no water, while the gasket should be placed on the inside where water is present. The thread size is not a standard PVC thread, so it cannot be attached to a PVC female connector. The bulkhead fitting can go through walls that are up to 3/4 inch thick. The hole size needed for this unit is 1 1/4 inch. Extra gaskets/seals can be purchased, but they are relatively expensive compared to the price of the entire bulkhead.
